Atlas of LifE: Coastal wilderness

Vision 2020
A Photo Exhibition

Once again it is time to celebrate the wonder and beauty of our region’s biodiversity. Our aim is to achieve this by highlighting some of the wonderful images and records that have been submitted to the ALCW NatureMapr database.

This year we will be doing things differently. This is an exhibition and not a competition. It is open to any contributor to the ALCW database and will feature only images recorded on the database. Your entries create a gallery of great images for us all to share and enjoy.

Simply select a category below and complete the entry form, including a link to the original record on NatureMapr and you’re in the exhibition. Please note that entries will be moderated so may not immediately appear in the gallery.

"am i eligible to enter?"

Entry is open to all ages, and to residents and visitors alike. The only requirement is that you are a registered contributor to the Atlas of Life NatureMapr database. [not registered yet? click here]

All images must have been taken within the Atlas of Life in the Coastal Wilderness region and must also be recorded as sightings on our NatureMapr database.

"what are the categories?"

There will be four general categories and as a result of the recent devastating bushfires we have added a special feature category “Bushfire Recovery”. Nominate a single category for each image.

GENERAL categories

  1. Creature Portraits

  2. Creature Behaviour

  3. Plants and Fungi

  4. Habitat

Special categorY

  1. Bushfire recovery

Each image must have a caption. The caption should contain common name, scientific name and any other relevant facts. The caption should also give a brief explanation as to why that particular photograph has been chosen.

Note: please only enter images of native species. For example, a photo of a pet snake, a caged bird, a cultivated plant, or a feral animal cannot be accepted.

Vision 2020 is an exhibition and there will be no judging as such. However, there will be the opportunity for gallery viewers to lodge a “People’s Choice” vote. There will be two prizes for the most popular image; One for the four general categories and one for the Bushfire Recovery category.

"How many images MAY I enter?"

Up to 6 images in total.

Note: Photos taken prior to 2020 are eligible for entry. However, images entered in previous years' Atlas of Life Photo Competitions are not eligible for re-entry.
