Winter Visitors

Every winter we see a small group of Double Banded Plovers on the sandspit at Fishpen & opposite on the tidal flats opposite at Spencer Park. [Merimbula] They migrate from New Zealand, where they breed, to S.E Australia and have been seen sitting in the sun or feeding at low tide. Other plovers [residents] are at Bournda Island area, the endangered Hooded Plover, [one flagged YO] and a small group of Red Capped Plovers.
